Matthew 27:53-55

New Testament for Everyone

⁵³ They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection, and went into the holy city, where they appeared to many people.

⁵⁴ When the centurion and the others with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that happened, they were scared out of their wits.

“He really was God’s son!” they said.

⁵⁵ There were several women there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee, helping to look after his needs.
